| In 1992, because of the richness of its fauna and flora, UNESCO classified Ventoux as a Biosphere reserve. |
Malaucene, situated on the northern side of Ventoux, was once an ancient fortified town. Today, it is an agricultural agglomeration of grapevines and olive trees. Visit the 14th century church in the old part of the village. SURROUNDINGS: Approximately 1.5km from Malaucene is the source of Groseau, tapped during Roman times to nourish the thermal waters of Vaison-la-Romaine.
